Flushing – The Department of Transportation (DOT) approved funds to soundproof Vaughn College located at 86-01 23rd Avenue in Flushing, from the constant noise pollution of La Guardia Airport, a victory Congressmember Joesph Crowley hopes will lead to more soundproofing in Queens.
“For too long, students at Vaughn College, as well as thousands of Queens residents, have suffered from the disruptive noise of the airport. On top of the sheer nuisance, noise pollution can also pose serious health risks to residents and has the potential to diminish a student’s ability to concentrate in a classroom,” said Crowley.
Congressman Crowley is the author of an amendment to the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2009 that would enable the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) to address noise issues in communities surrounding La Guardia Airport.
“This measure will help make La Guardia Airport a better friend to its many neighbors.”
