Guitarist, composer and vocalist Horacio Laguna will perform at the Whitestone Library, located at 151-10 14th Road, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 14.

The performance will include the music of The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, Louis Armstrong, Barry Manilow and Frank Sinatra. It will also include classic tangos and music by Latin composers.

‘Taming of the Shrew’

“Taming of the Shrew” will be presented at Socrates Sculpture Park, located at 32-01 Vernon Boulevard in Long Island City, at 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 15.

The performance is part of the Hip to Hop Theatre Company’s “Free Shakespeare in the Park” series. They will also perform “Macbeth” at Socrates Sculpture Park at 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 29.

Movies Under the Stars

During Movies Under the Stars, “Up” will be shown at Cunningham park, located at 196th Street and Union Turnpike, from 8 to 10 p.m. on Monday, August 16.

The event, which is being organized by Friends of Cunningham Park, is free of charge. It also includes popcorn.

‘Working Stiffs’

Queens Museum of Art

Through October 3

The exhibition “Working Stiffs: Photography from the Collection” will be on display at the Queens Museum of Art, located in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, through October 3.

The exhibit features 50 photographs from the museum’s permanent collection. The purpose is “to articulate what it is to work, cross-culturally and geographically, throughout the 19th and 20th centuries,” according to the museum’s web site.
