Popeye’s Fried Chicken robber sought by cops

ROSEDALE — Police have sought the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted in connection with a robbery in Rosedale.

On Aug. 19 at about 10:45 p.m., a 170-pound, 5-foot-10 black man entered the Popeye’s Fried Chicken restaurant at 245-01 Francis Lewis Blvd. armed with a handgun, according to police.

He then walked behind the counter, approached a 22-year-old man and demanded cash, then shot the victim in the right hand before fleeing with an unknown amount of money, police said.

The victim was taken by EMS to North Shore Manhasset Hospital in stable condition. The suspect was last seen carrying football equipment and wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt, black cap and black “uniform type” football pants.
