Seek man who impersonates cops

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in finding a man wanted for impersonating a police officer while committing crimes.

The suspect, identified as Bension Mamedov, while wearing a police shield around his neck and an NYPD jacket, enters commercial locations, removes items from the shelves and then takes the items to the register. He then allegedly identities himself as a police officer and returns the items as if he had previously purchased them. At no time does he display or threaten to have a weapon.

The city-wide incidents have occurred in pharmacies and even major retailers such as Banana Republic.

In Queens, Mamedov hit the CVS located at 118-10 Queens Boulevard on Saturday, May 22.

He is described as 36 years old, 6′ and 210 pounds.

Anyone with information in regards to any of these incidents, or the whereabouts of the suspect, is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
