While kids were enjoying their last week of summer vacation, Congressmember Joseph Crowley and Assemblymember Jeff Aubry hosted a back-to-school drive at the Elmcor Youth and Adult Activities center in Corona.
“A good education paves the way for our children to be successful in the future. That is why we must ensure that every child has the tools necessary to excel in the classroom,” Crowley said. “The back to school drive Assemblyman Aubry and I hosted at Elmcor will not only help ensure that young students in Queens have the supplies they need in the classroom, but that they start the new school year with a brighter outlook on learning.”
Crowley and Aubry donated new backpacks and school supplies to students of all ages. They also provided the students with words of encouragement and support as they head back to school.
Elmcor Youth and Adult Activities is a multi-service non-profit organization that provides quality educational and recreational youth services to residents of Corona, Jackson Heights and Elmhurst.
“To prepare them for a good school year and a proper education, we must ensure that each child has what is necessary to be engaged in the learning process,” Aubry said. “We have a responsibility to help make the right to learn an obligation that all of us can help achieve by providing the tools necessary for a solid education.”
