Incumbent Assemblymembers hold seats

As usual, there were few surprises as all of the incumbent Assemblymembers were re-elected to return to Albany.  

Democrats who had no opponents and retained their Assembly included Grace Meng in District 22, Rory Lancman in District 25, Nettie Mayersohn in District 27, William Scarborough in District 29, Michelle Titus in District 31, Vivian Cook in District 32, Barbara Clark in District 33, Michael DenDekker in District 34 and Jeffrion Aubry in District 35. One newcomer, Democrat Aravella Simotas was re-elected in District 36 as she will fill the seat vacated by Senator-elect Michael Gianaris.

 

ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 23

            ? Assemblymember Audrey Pheffer got re-elected with more than 66 percent of the votes. Pheffer received 11,514 votes. Her Republican opponent Harold Paez got 5,782 votes.

 

ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 24

            ? Incumbent Assemblymember David Weprin cruised to victory over Republican candidate Timothy Furey and Conservative candidate Bob Friedrich. Weprin won with more than 67 percent of the votes, receiving 11,698 votes. Furey got 4,119 votes and Friedrich with just 1,606 votes.

 

ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 28

            ? Voters in central and western Queens chose to send Assemblymember Andrew Hevesi back to Albany. They picked Hevesi by over 53 percent. Hevesi received 8,583 votes. Republican challenger Aleksander Powietrzynski got 6,481 votes and Independent candidate Joseph Tiraco just 879 votes.

 

ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 37

            ?Incumbent Assemblymember Catherine Nolan won with more than 84 percent of the votes. Nolan received 9,139 votes and Republican challenger John Kevin Wilson got 1,703 votes.

 

ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 38

?Assemblymember Michael Miller also got re-elected with over 68 percent of the votes. Miller received 8,514 votes and Republican candidate Donna Marie Caltabiano got 3,863 votes.
