HILLCREST – St. John’s University announced the expansion of their ROTC program on to their Staten Island campus during its annual Veteran’s Day ceremony.
“Having the ROTC based on the Staten Island Campus will afford the opportunity for St. John’s University students and college students in the surrounding area the opportunity – if they are interested – to receive ROTC training right here on Staten Island,” said Dr. Jerrold Ross, Academic Vice President and Dean of the School of Education. “We hope this will lead to these students becoming commission officers in the U.S. Army upon graduation, and will also enhance the opportunities with local high schools that offer Junior ROTC programs.”
Currently there are no opportunities for the students in Staten Island to join the ROTC locally. For more information on the STJ-ROTC Program contact Major James Bush at 718-990-2742 or email inquiries to bushj@st.johns.edu. – Randell Evans
