We now have the upcoming new U.S. House of Representatives majority leader, John Boehner (R-Ohio), spewing a similar mantra — a noun plus a verb plus “the American people” — anytime he is near a microphone.
American people, indeed. He is to the American people as a chicken hawk is to chickens: They merely sound similar. His American people are the same people who our unconscionable U.S. Supreme Court labeled the mega-corporations in order to enable them to buy into office the candidates which best increase their bottom line.
Those are the American people Boehner represents and is speaking for and not what he would like us to believe as the American people: you and me.
But repeating it over and over again, thereby saturating the brain of the “real” American people, will dupe them into thinking he is actually referring to them. It worked for the elusive weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the ever-popular death tax and health-care “death panels” (death is spooky, run), abortion and too many distortions, misrepresentations and lies to even list.
It will probably work again. Shame on us.
