Far Rock woman guilty of carving knife assault

FAR ROCKAWAY — A Far Rockaway woman was sentenced to four months in jail after she pleaded guilty to assaulting another woman during a dispute earlier this month, a spokeswoman for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Alexis Bynum, 20, of 22-55 Dix Ave. in Far Rockaway, got into a fight with another woman between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. Jan. 2 near her home, according to the criminal complaint.

Bynum grabbed a carving knife during the fight and sliced the victim’s right ring finger knuckle, causing a laceration, the complaint said.

Bynum was arraigned Jan. 7 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Toko Serita when she pleaded guilty to third-degree assault, the spokeswoman said.

Bynum was sentenced to four months in jail after the guilty plea, the spokeswoman said.
