‘Holiday Bandit’ strikes again

The bank robber dubbed the “Holiday Bandit” recently struck again in Astoria.

Marat Mikhaylich entered Investors Savings Bank on Broadway armed with a gun and handed the teller a note demanding cash Wednesday, February 16 at 1 p.m.

This is the fourth bank in Astoria and Long Island City, and seventh in the city, Mikhaylich has hit. Investors Savings was his third robbery in February. The spree originally began in December, earning him his nickname.

“The Holiday Bandit continues to raise the stakes, becoming more aggressive, and his hold-ups more frequent,” said Assistant Special Agent in Charge Michael Rourke.

The Ukrainian born Mikhaylich is currently on the FBI’s most wanted list and a federal arrest warrant was issued for him in January. The 35-year-old stands between 6’3” and 6’5”, weighs 210 pounds and introduces himself as Mark.

The FBI is offering a “significant reward” for any tips that help break this case. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI-NYPD’s Joint Bank Robbery Task Force immediately at 212-384-1000. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
