The story "Land Grab: Willets Point property owners face eminent domain seizure" by Gaudys Sanclemente was right to the point on the issue. The city wants to take private property, in an area long neglected by the city, and give it to private companies so it can be developed.
There are functioning businesses in this neglected location now.
It is terrible that the city will use the power of eminent domain to take this property away from people who pay taxes and employ people.
In the past governments only took property that was needed for the public good. How many private individuals will make large amounts of money? Who else will make lots of money due to the use of eminent domain?
