Good centers, bad bill

A bill has been introduced in the New York City Council [Intro 371-2010] that singles out pregnancy resources centers with harsh and discriminatory regulations.

The targets of this bill include Catholic Charities and a number of crisis centers, all of which help pregnant women in need.

I am a Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus and feel all life is sacred and therefore believe this bill is bias.

These centers provide free counseling, clothing and material support, and in many cases free ultrasound and prenatal care which no abortion facility in the city provides.

An attempt is being made to shut these centers down because it cuts into the profits of the abortion clinics.

I feel this bill is discriminatory and violates the constitutional rights of pregnancy service centers and their staffs. And finally let us remember the city’s abortion rate is up to 41 percent and that is much too high.
