LAURELTON — Police were looking for a man they said tried to rape a woman more than a week ago.
The suspect, who is described as black with a dark complexion, between 18 and 23 years old and approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, followed the victim into an apartment in a building near 141st Avenue and Springfield Boulevard March 12 around 5:30 p.m., police said.
He allegedly grabbed her buttocks and, when she resisted, he allegedly threw her to the ground and tried to rape her, according to investigators.
The suspect fled when a tenant who heard noise opened the apartment door, police said.
He was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans and had a dark-colored North Face backpack on his back, investigators said.
