No rain on this parade

The 36th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in Rockaway Beach was held on Saturday, March 5 and led by Grand Marshal Terence Farrell. The Xaverian High School Band, Scholars Academy Band, Emerald Society Sanitation Bagpipe Band and St. Camillus School Marching Unit are among those that marched in the parade. Mayor Michael Bloomberg also walked the 30-block route for his 10th consecutive time at parade while carrying an Irish flag.

The parade was sponsored by the Queens County St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Cultural Committee. Thirty-two county banners were carried in the parade, which went from 1 to 3 p.m. along Newport Avenue and Rockaway Beach Boulevard and ended at Beach 102nd Street.

The Queens County parade is held on the first Saturday of March each year.
