I couldn’t afford the $30,800 price of admission to attend the most recent fund raiser for President Obama on behalf of the Democratic National Party Committee held at the Red Rooster restaurant in Harlem.
The usual crowd of lobbyists, trial lawyers, labor union leaders, Hollywood celebrities, real-estate tycoons, special interest groups and millionaires didn’t take the "A" train uptown but arrived in style by limousine.
I couldn’t afford the price of a ticket, but I would have checked fur coats, mixed drinks, parked limousines or bused tables. What was that tired old refrain about the Democratic Party being the friend of the little working class people and those nasty greedy old Republicans being a party of the wealthy big buck special interest fat cats?
