New York gas prices drop

After weeks of gas prices climbing towards record highs, drivers got a reprieve this week as prices reversed direction.

The average gas price in New York is $4.216, according to AAA’s fuel gauge report, almost seven cents lower than a week ago.

The price is still over a dollar more than customers were paying at the pump this time last year.

The highest recorded gas prices in the city were recorded on July 16, 2008 when the price hit $4.411. The average gas price nationally is $3.843, down more than ten cents from last week.
