Starting Friday night, riders on the No.7 subway will find difficult weekend traveling while the MTA performs repairs and maintenance.
There will be no No. 7 service between Times Square and Queensboro Plaza. Shuttle buses will run between Vernon Boulevard/Jackson Avenue and Queensboro Plaza.
The No. 7 shutdown will last from 11:30 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m.Monday.
While the No.7 is shut down, the Times Square-Grand Central shuttle will operate 24-hours.
Transit officials said the maintenance and repair work was vital.
“Completion of this work will eliminate a key cause of the recently delays, providing some near-term relief,” the MTA said. “Signals controlling train traffic on a portion of the No.7 line are anywhere from 50 to 90 years old and in need of replacement.”
