The Community Partnership Initiative will hold a Spring Community Resource Fair at Elmhurst’s The Rock Church May 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This is the first of what is expected to be an annual event for the CPI, which works with the city Administration for Children’s Services to build partnerships with community groups. The CPI operates as Families Building Community in Elmhurst.
Shannon Mancuso, spokeswoman for Families Building Community, said the event will bring 60 organizations together at the church, which is at 57-02 Hoffman Drive in Elmhurst. The organizations will have tables set up offering services such as financial help and legal assistance, as well as free blood glucose tests and diabetes screenings.
“We want to really educate the immigrant community on what’s available to them,” Mancuso said.
She said the event will also have raffles, give-aways, bouncy castles for children, a DJ and arts and crafts.
City Council members Daniel Dromm (D-Jackson Heights) and Karen Koslowitz (D-Forest Hills) have endorsed the event.
