A father of two who had no enemies was gunned down in a random shooting outside his family home in St. Albans last week, the police and his loved ones said.
Jimmolt Gonsalves, 26, was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head around 3 p.m. June 8 outside the house he had lived in all of his life at 111th Avenue and Francis Lewis Boulevard, according to the police.
Gonsalves’ wife, Misty, was inside the home when the shooting took place and she said she did not know why her husband was targeted.
“This wasn’t a break-in, I don’t know what it was,” she said.
The mother of the couple’s two children, Shanai and Mieliai, said the police were looking at two suspects, but the NYPD would not comment on the investigation. No arrests had been made as of press time Tuesday.
Misty Gonsalves said her husband, who was known as “Jimmy” to his friends and family, lived in the house his entire life.
She described him as a friendly and outgoing man who got along well with neighbors. The victim’s wife moved into the house after the couple got married. .
“Everybody knows him, everybody loves him,” she said.
Jimmolt Gonsalves had been working as a driver of an ambulette commuter van service and was constantly working, helping to transport commuters, according to his father Patrick, who also lives in the home with Jimmolt’s mother. He also had a sister who serves in the U.S. Army, according to Misty Gonsalves.
The victim’s wife said he worked six days a week to help take care of the family.
“He was not outside enough to have any enemies,” she said holding back tears.
