Come for the Spanish cuisine – stay for the Paella

A plane ride to Spain takes approximately eight hours, but if you want authentic Spanish cuisine without the jetlag, visit Marbella Restaurant in Bayside.
Marbella has perfected the art of Spanish cooking during 35 years of satisfying customers with their delectable and savory dishes. Chef Esteban Barrosa began cooking in Madrid at the age of 15, equaling his food to that of any kitchen in Spain.
Marbella offers a myriad of appetizers that are sure to satisfy every pallet. Their seafood tastes as though it was caught especially for you the moment you order it.
The calamari is grilled to perfection and sprinkled lightly with olive oil. Several shrimp appetizers are also available in a variety of sauces, including garlic, white garlic cream and green sauce.
The croquetas, fried rolls made of breaded egg yolk, stuffed with potato puree and chopped shrimp and scallops, melt in your mouth after each bite. Their crispy exterior and creamy interior make them irresistible.
Other appetizer options include mussels in a whiskey sauce; eggs stuffed with seafood, toasted garlic bread, and for anyone with a sweet tooth, fried bananas. Marbella also offers a number of soups, including lobster bisque, garlic soup and a special Galician soup made with beef, pork and vegetables.
For entrees, Marbella prepares a wide variety of seafood meals, from a filet of sole sautéed to perfection in a tasty butter parsley and almond sauce, to lobster tails in a rich white garlic sauce. Patrons can also choose from a number of chicken and steak meals, cooked in an assortment of sauces and creams. Marbella serves entrees from both Italy and France as well.
The specialty of Marbella is certainly their Paella a la Valenciana. Brimming with chicken, Spanish sausage, clams, scallops, shrimps, mussels and red peppers, the paella is a mix of mouth-watering flavors that will keep you craving more even after the plate is empty. It is available with and without lobster. The rice is cooked in saffron, giving it its famous yellow color. While the paella can be for one person, it is easily large enough to appease the appetites of two.
Those feeling festive must try the sangria, which is from a special Marbella recipe. It is made with authentic Spanish wine, and is succulently sweet due to the chunks of fresh apples and oranges mixed in.
Beyond the food and drink, Marbella has a classic Spanish atmosphere. The walls are draped with ornate tapestries which depict Spanish maidens, matadors in training, and a Spanish castle. The tapestries are from the 1960’s, and are replicas of ones found in Madrid’s Prado Museum. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, Marbella features a harpist, who serenades patrons with beautiful Spanish melodies.
Visiting Marbella Restaurant transports you to a rustic Spanish village for dinner.
