Douglaston Community Day coming soon

On August 13, Darryl Strawberry will host the first annual Douglaston Community Day outside Strawberry’s Sports Grill in conjunction with their one-year anniversary as a Queens hot spot.
Families can bring their children for a fun-filled day of activities for all ages and meet with Mets legends with all proceeds going to The Darryl Strawberry Foundation to fight the battle against autism and the Douglaston Little League.
“We are tremendously excited,” said Darryl’s brother, Michael Strawberry – the restaurant’s maître d’. “This is a great opportunity to give back to the community. The restaurant has been nothing but a blessing.”
So far, the Douglaston Chamber of Commerce, KTU 103.5, Capital One Bank, Modell’s Sporting Goods, The Queens Courier, The Daily News and Coors Light have signed on as sponsors for the day’s events that will include batting cages, pitch speed radar guns, a bounce house for kids, mini-hoops, a live DJ and an outdoor barbeque provided by Strawberry’s Grill. Ryan Ruocco and Robin Lundberg, hosts on 1050 ESPN Radio will also be in attendance and promoting the event on-air. More surprises are expected to be announced in the days preceding the event.
