Have a Happy Fourth of July weekend

Hundreds gathered at Astoria Park for a fireworks show that kicked off the long holiday weekend Thursday night.
Police are reminding residents that setting off fireworks is both illegal and dangerous. Extra patrol will be out throughout the weekend.
For those traveling into Manhattan to watch the Macy’s fireworks the Northbound Westside Highway from 23rd Street to 57th, Southbound Westside Highway from 42nd Street to 79th Street and Southbound Westside Highway from 42nd Street to 23rd street will be closed on July 4 from 4:30 p.m. until approximately 1 a.m.
According to Manhattan.about.com are along the northbound lanes of the West Side Highway and 12th Avenue between 20th and 59th Streets.
After the show, the 1, 2, 3, A, C, E, L and 42nd Street S Shuttle will see increased service. The fireworks are scheduled for between 9:20 p.m. and 9:50 p.m.
