Queens Jeopardy kid finishes second

Flushing whiz kid Rahul Francis finished in second place in the July 5 episode of “Jeopardy! Kid’s Week.”

Francis, who accumulated approximately $20,000 while playing the game, finished roughly $8,000 behind the contestant who came in first.

“I think I did well,” said Francis. “I played a good game, and I think I had the highest second place score in the tournament. My second place score was higher than some of the first place scores. I didn’t wager enough on Final Jeopardy, that’s the only reason I lost.”

Francis said that if he had wagered all of his money on the Final Jeopardy question, one he answered correctly, he would have finished in a tie for first place and the game would have come down to a sudden death round.

While he admits he wishes he came in first, Francis won’t complain about his consolation prize. He walked away with $2,000 for finishing in second, and he is currently on a celebratory vacation with his family in Miami Beach.

“I’m very happy,” said Francis. “Even if I came out in third or first place, I still would have had a great time.”
