Helen Morelli

Beloved mother and wife, Helen Morelli of Glendale, died last Thursday. She was 83.
Morelli was originally from the Bronx and lived on University Avenue. She went to the Saint Jerome School and graduated in 1944. Morelli only attended high school for one year and then went on to work as a telephone operator for New York Telephone Company during World War II.
She and her husband, Luigi Morelli, grew up in the same neighborhood. The two married after he returned from serving in the war. They were married for more than 50 years.
“What I admire and what I hope to emulate is the love that her and my father had,” said her daughter, Ann Mancuso.
Morelli battled bouts with heart disease before her last days at her Glendale
“The day she died she went out on a great day,” her daughter said.
She is survived by three children, Carolyn Robertson, Joseph Morelli, and Ann Mancuso.
Funeral services were held at Leo F. Kearns Funeral Home in Rego Park and she was buried in the Lutheran All Faiths Cemetery.
Mancuso recalled that her mother was a loving and caring parent, and was always kind to everyone she met.
“She’s going to be greatly, greatly missed” Mancuso said. “I just hope that I turn out to be half the person that she was.” – Vishal Persaud
