It’s never too late to start a baseball season.
Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer threw out the first pitch and kicked off the first day of the Long Island City YMCA Youth League season at Queensbridge Park on August 2.
“It has always been one of my top priorities to make sure our youth have a nurturing environment within the community, encouraging valuable lessons, including teamwork, and the importance of physical fitness,” he said. “The YMCA Youth League provides young people with this opportunity.”
The councilmember allocated over $100,000 in funding over the past two years – including over $50,000 in the budget adopted this June for the coming year for athletic, educational and cultural programs at the YMCA.
