Tribute to musicals at Town Hall

Everyone has their own personal soundtrack – a collection of songs that mark major developments and milestones throughout life.
Queens theatergoers can now relive those formative moments with Broadway Blockbuster Productions’ “American Fantasy II: A Tribute to Hollywood’s Greatest Musicals,” at Flushing Town Hall on August 19 and 20. A cast led by New York tenor Andrew Koslosky takes the audience on a trip down memory lane with music from such movies as “Singing in the Rain,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Mame,” Oklahoma,” “The Sound of Music” and more.
“It’s a show about showing people that there is magic in the music in movies,” said Koslosky, who also the director of the production. “It’s called “American Fantasy” because we bring you back to your dreams. You can look into the audience and see that they’re not really there – they’re where they were when the music was happening.”
A sequel to last year’s original “American Fantasy,” it was brought back with new additions and new revisions because of the overwhelming response that Koslosky and his partners received from audiences.
Clyde Bullard, an associate producer and a member of the Broadway Blockbuster Band, called the show an all-singing, all-dancing spectacular. He also said that audience will get swept away in the fantasy of the show – and it is an escape they’ll never forget.
“Fantasies exemplify the best of love, the best of our emotions, the best of humanity,” said Bullard. “With this show, we present fun-loving, magical feelings and emotions with popular songs that are a part of American culture.”
The Broadway Blockbuster Band learned about 300 pages of music for the show – bringing the tunes to life with help from the show’s versatile performers under the direction of Koslosky. The music flows from one time period to another, starting at the beginning of musicals and ending with the modern arraignments.
“If you can’t get into this music, you shouldn’t even be singing in the shower,” said Koslosky, adding that there is something for all ages in this show. “The arraignments are so stunning that you are compelled to participate.”
Flushing Town Hall is located at 137-35 Northern Boulevard in Flushing and “American Fantasy II” will presents its final two New York performances on Friday, August 19 and Saturday, August 20, both at 8 p.m. Reserve tickets online at www.thejosephinefoundation.org or by calling 516-334-1536. All major credit cards are accepted and tickets are $25 for general admission, $40 for VIP box seats and $15 for senior citizens.
