Throgs Neck to close part of center lane
Part of the center lane of the Throgs Neck Bridge will be closed on around the clock starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, to permit roadwork.
MTA Bridge and Tunnel officials said the shutdown was necessary to permit the application of asphalt to about one third of a mile of the highway surface.
The road project is dependent on dry weather and temperatures above 40 degrees and is expected to require two weeks. Motorists can use the Bronx-Whitestone bridge in the meantime.
Meanwhile, the Throgs Neck’s southbound lane into Queens will also be shut down from 10 p.m.to 5 a.m. weekdays and 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekends. During this period, large trucks classified as over dimensional will be banned from the bridge and will have to use an alternate routes.
