ASTORIA — Police were on the lookout for a man suspected of attempting to rape two women in Astoria last week.
Two women, both 28, were attacked by a man while entering their 21st Street apartment around 2 a.m. on Nov. 4, police said. The man pushed them into their apartment’s vestibule and tried to rape them, police said.
“Be quiet. I have a gun,” the man told the victims, according to the police.
The women were saved when a second floor resident came to the vestibule and the man ran away, police said. The women were treated for lacerations to their face and arms at Elmhurst Hospital, police said.
The suspect is described as a 20- to 25-year-old black man about 6 feet tall, weighing 185 pounds with short black hair, police said. When last seen, he wore a long-sleeved black V-neck sweater and blue jeans, police said.
