Next year will be better

As we say goodbye to 2011 and hello to 2012, we know the coming year will be a very important one for our country. Our nation will be electing a president this coming November, and whoever is our next president, Republican or Democrat, will have their work cut out for them.

Our country continues in the grip of a very damaging economic recession, with millions of Americans out of work, and many more without health insurance. Also, many Americans have lost their homes to foreclosure, which further exacerbates the national crisis that we are currently experiencing.

Prices continue to rise on all of the basics that we need to live. Our education system has suffered the loss of thousands of dedicated, hard-working teachers through layoffs forced by severe budget cuts in education across our country. This new year, 2012, will hopefully begin to see a gradual, steady improvement in our economy. After all, how much worse could it get? Our congress and president better make a concerted effort to work together and to stop all of the political infighting and gerrymandering! The American people want and expect positive and concrete results!

Happy New Year, folks!
