Corona Man Cuffed For Possessing Child Porn

A Corona man has been arraigned on a 3,000-count indictment charging him with the possession and promotion of over 1,000 images and 500 videos featuring child pornography, the Queens District Attorney’s office announced on Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Elvis Infante, 35, of Granger Street in Corona, is charged with 1,544 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child and 1,544 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child. He was arraigned Tuesday before Queens Supreme Court Justice Richard L. Buchter and ordered held on $100,000 cash bail or $250,000 bond. His next court date is on Apr. 16.

According to the charges, NYPD detectives were notified on Aug. 19, 2010, by the New York Internet Crimes Against Children about a cybertip received at the National Center For Missing and Exploited Children that the username “3SFORI7SZWOW7” had uploaded 12 images of child pornography to Ning, a company allowing users to create their own online social networks.

Ning had intercepted the images and reported the incident to the Center; the e-mail address used on the site was reportedly registered to Infante.

On Nov. 24, 2010, detectives visited Infante’s home and recovered 80 images of child pornography fro his computer. A further forensic investi-

“These videos depict real children who are emotionally and physically scarred for the rest of their lives,” said Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown in a statement. “These cruel acts cannot and will not be tolerated in a civilized society.”

The investigation was conducted by Det. Andrew Jackson of the NYPD’s Computer Crimes Squad.

SeniorAssistant DistrictAttorney Kateri A. Gasper and Robert D. Alexander, chief of the District Attorney’s Computer Crimes Unit, are prosecuting the case under the supervision of Anthony M. Communiello, bureau chief of the District Attorney’s Special Proceedings Bureau, and Oscar W. Ruiz, deputy bureau chief, and the overall supervision of Executive Assistant District Attorney for Investigations Peter A. Crusco and Deputy Executive Assistant District Attorney for Investigations Linda M. Cantoni.

According to court records, Infante was also arrested on Mar. 8, 2011 and charged by the New York County District Attorney’s Office with one count each of possession of a sexual performance of a child and promoting a sexual performance of a child. In that separate case, his next court date is scheduled for Jan. 19.

It was noted that an indictment is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
