Teen, 16, steals phone during G train fight: DA

RIDGEWOOD — A teenager was arraigned this month on charges he stole a cell phone during a massive fight on a G train subway car in Ridgewood, a spokeswoman for District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Jonathan Bueno, 16, of 11 Stagg St. in Brooklyn, allegedly approached two men riding the G train as it passed Fresh Pond Road and 67th Avenue in Ridgewood between 8 p.m. and 8:04 p.m. Nov. 11 and asked the men what kind of electronic devices they had on them, according to the criminal complaint.

Bueno then allegedly tried to swipe one of the men’s cell phones when a fight involving a few other defendants ensued and one of the suspects hit the victims with a cane, the complaint said.

One of the victims noticed his cell phone was missing after the melee, the complaint said.

Bueno allegedly admitted to officers that he was on the train, fought the victims, stole their cell phones and sold the items, the complaint said.

The Brooklyn teen was arraigned Dec. 15 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Suzanne Melendez on robbery charges, the spokeswoman said.

Melendez set bail at $10,000 and ordered Bueno to return to court Thursday.
