Flames Scorch Local Gas Station

Two firefighters were injured while battling a onealarm blaze that broke out inside a service station on the Maspeth/Middle Village border last Saturday night, Feb. 11, Fire Department sources said. Reportedly, the inferno ignited at around 9:10 p.m. in the garage of the Getty gas station located at the corner of Eliot Avenue and 69th Street. Responding to the scene (in the order of their arrival) were members of Engine companies 291, 319 and 206; Squad companies 288 and 270; Ladder companies 140, 135 and 112; Rescue 4 and Battalions 28 and 45-under the direction of Division 14-along with the 104th Precinct and EMS units. The injured firefighters were brought to local hospitals for treatment of minor ailments. Two hose lines were used by firefighters to bring the blaze under control, said an FDNY source.
