A Ridgewood man lost his life after the car he was driving lost control and crashed on a roadway in Broad Channel early last Saturday morning, Mar. 10, police reported.
Law enforcement sources identified the victim as 23-year-old Robert Aleca of Palmetto Street.
Police said the one-car accident occurred at 7 a.m. last Saturday along Cross Bay Boulevard near East First Road.
According to information obtained by police, Aleca was behind the wheel of a 2005 Nissan Altima traveling southbound on Cross Bay Boulevard at a high rate of speed.
Near the intersection, authorities said, the vehicle suddenly lost control and slammed into a tree and a utility pole. The force of the collision reportedly caused Aleca to be ejected from the sedan.
Members of the 100th Precinct responded to the scene with EMS units. Aleca was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The NYPD Accident Investigation Squad is continuing their inquiry, police said.
