Plans for the construction of a new bank in Maspeth will be the focus of a public hearing scheduled to take place at Community Board 5’s next meeting on Wednesday night, Mar. 14, in Middle Village.
As announced by District Manager Gary Giordano, the session will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Christ the King Regional High School, located at 68-02 Metropolitan Ave.
The public hearing focuses on an application to the Board of Standards and Appeals for a special permit to allow the commercial use of a residential portion of a lot located at 73- 49 Grand Ave. in Maspeth (Block 2491, Lot 40). According to Giordano, the property is in a C1-2/R6B and R4-1 zoning district.
Under the application (BSA Cal. No. 26-12 BZ), the special permit would allow for the demolition of the existing structure-a 5,000 sq. ft. building formerly occupied by Blockbuster Video-and erection of a one-story, 2,939 sq. ft. TD Bank building. The permit also includes a parking lot for 16 vehicles.
Following the public hearing, the board will proceed with its regular meeting, which includes the public forum, a review of liquor license applications and committee reports.
