Cops look for suspect in rent scam

SUNNYSIDE — The NYPD was seeking the public’s assistance in locating a man alleged to have cheated 12 victims by accepting money for a Sunnyside apartment he had no authority to rent.

Police said that in late February and early March, 31-year-old Peter Kim, aka Michael Hong, allegedly accepted payments from 12 people for an apartment at 43-01 46th St. he advertised on craigslist.org that he did not have permission or authority to rent.

Kim is described as approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing between 130 and 150 pounds.

Anyone with information about to Kim is asked to call Crime stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crimestoppers website at nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
