The Queens Borough Public Library honored City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer with its “Library Champion Award” last Tuesday, Apr. 3, for his support and advocacy of the organization. Van Bramer, who previously worked for the Queens Library for 11 years as its chief external affairs officer, fought to thwart cuts and increase funding for libraries and other cultural organizations while serving as chair of the City Council’s Cultural Affairs and Libraries Committee. Van Bramer is pictured at the award presentation (at center) along with Jackie Arrington (at left), president of the Queens Library Board of Trustees, and Thomas W. Galante, CEO of the Queens Library.
