Sgt. John Egan and P.O. Tyler Ruthizer were the 106th Precinct’s Cops of the Month, as announced at the precinct’s Wednesday, May 9 meeting in Ozone Park. The officers, responding to an Apr. 25 call of a burglary in progress, encountered three men who were stealing valuables from an apartment, along with a female accomplice who let them inside. They were able to subdue one of the armed men on the scene, and then, with the help of detectives, tracked the other two to Brownsville, Brooklyn (where another arrest was made) and finally to Sunset Park, Brooklyn (where the final man was cuffed)-all by 11 a.m. the following day. Egan (left) and Ruthizer (third from left) are shown holding their award plaques, donated by the Times Newsweekly, along with Capt. Thomas Pascale (second from left), the 106th Precinct’s commander, and Frank Dardani, president of the 106th Precinct Community Council.
