Probe Man’s Death In Woodhaven
Though they were initially called to put out a brush fire, firefighters instead found a man’s body set ablaze inside Forest Park off a Woodhaven intersection early last Saturday morning, May 12, according to authorities.
Police said the victim-identified in published reports as 48-year-old Zograb Avetisyam, address unkown- was severely burned and pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification and determination of the cause of death.
Members of Engine Co. 293 responded to a 911 call of a fire inside the park off the intersection of Park Lane South and 86th Street at around 5:55 a.m. last Saturday.
Upon arrival, however, the firefighters spotted the victim in flames in a wooded area of the park.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, and officers from the 102nd Precinct responded to the scene along with EMS units, who pronounced the man dead.
As of press time, no arrests have been made, law enforcement sources noted. The case has been presented to the 102nd Precinct Detective Squad and FDNY Marshals for further investigation, sources said.
