Celebrate Spring at Wdhvn. Dance

Community Contributors To Be Honored

The Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation (GWDC) will hold its 33rd annual “Everlasting Spring” dinner/dance on Friday night, June 1, in Woodhaven, it was announced.

Considered by the organization to be “the social event of the year,” the dinner/dance will take place beginning at 7:30 p.m. on June 1 at Cordon Bleu Caterers, located at 96-01 Jamaica Ave. To go along with the theme of the event, female guests are encouraged to wear warm spring colors.

The GWDC will be honoring several individuals and businesspeople in the community at the dance for their contributions over the previous year.

Debra A. Hoffer, director of field operations for Catholic Charities Senior Citizens Center, will be presented with the GWDC Woman of the Year Award for 2012. This year’s Man of the Year honors will go to Dr. Robert J. Castelli, a Woodhaven podiatrist.

Michael Brennen of Mike’s Pub will be recognized as the GWDC’s Business Owner of the Year, while Jaime “Jimmy” Illescas of Tropical Restaurant will receive the Businessman of the Year award. Finally, St. Luke’s Nursery School will be provided with the GWDC’s Special Recognition Award.

The dinner dance includes live music, doowop and modern music as well as a delux buffet and refreshments. Tickets are $65 per person.
