REGO PARK — Police were looking for two men and three women suspected of stealing from shoppers in Rego Park earlier this month.
Authorities described the culprits as a Hispanic man in his 30s, a Hispanic or black woman in her late 30s and a Hispanic or black woman in her 40s.
The alleged thieves first hit a 63-year-old man, who was shopping at a business, at 61-35 Junction Blvd., May 6 at around 4:30 p.m., police said. The victim was distracted by the Hispanic man when the younger female suspect bumped into him and removed his wallet, police said. The victim’s credit cards were later used at nearby department stores without his knowledge, police said.
The next day, the younger female suspect bumped into a 34-year-old woman shopping at a store, at 96-05 Queens Blvd., around 3:30 p.m., police said. The victim later realized her wallet had been stolen from her purse, police said. About an hour later, another woman, 43, shopping in the same store realized her wallet had been stolen, police said.
Both victims’ credit cards were used at nearby department stores without their knowledge, police said.
The male suspect has short, black, straight hair with a dyed blond streak on one side and a tattoo that says “Rickey” on his neck, police said. The younger female suspect has short black hair and the older female suspect has short black hair as well as a light complexion, police said.
