Students from St. John’s Lutheran School in Glendale helped local elected officials and Parks Department representatives cut the ribbon on the newly-renovated greenhouse at Forest Park at a ceremony on Monday, Apr. 30. As noted, the $3.88 million reconstruction project converted the century-old greenhouse into a state-of-the-art facility featuring a new ventiliation system, a redesigned interior and a new heating system. On hand for the occasion were (standing in the back row, from left to right) Dorie Figliola of Assemblyman Mike Miller’s office; Community Board 5 District Manager Gary Giordano; Community Board 9 District Manager Mary Ann Carey; Queens Parks Commissioner Dorothy Lewandowski; Queens Borough President Helen Marshall; City Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe; Lydon Sleeper, chief of staff to City Council Member Elizabeth Crowley; Peter DeLucia of State Sen. Joseph Addabbo’s office; and Debbie Kuha, administrator of Forest and Highland parks.
