Kevin Czartoryski, a Maspeth native who died in 2011 as a result of pulmonary fibrosis contracted while searching for remains and staffing a makeshift morgue at Ground Zero, was honored last Sunday, Apr. 29 with the naming of the southeast corner of 59th Road and 60th Street in Maspeth as Detective Kevin Czartoryski Place. Local lamwakers and members of Czartoryski’s family joined local residents in honoring the former detective, including (left to right in photo) Assemblywoman Grace Meng, City Council Members Daniel Dromm and Jimmy Van Bramer; Czartoryski’s sisters, Patricia Kalbouros, Diane Ballek and Carol Motyka, NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly, Assemblywoman Catherine Nolan, Rep. Nydia Velázquez and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn.
