Flames ripped through the second-story of an Elmhurst home during a one-alarm fire on Monday, May 28, which left two people injured, Fire Department sources said. Reportedly, the blaze ignited at around 9:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Haspel Street and 52nd Avenue. Responding to the scene (in the order of their arrival) were members of Engine companies 287, 289 and 292; Squad companies 288 and 270; Ladder companies 136, 138 and 154; Rescue 4 and Battalions 46 and 45-under the direction of Division 14-along with the 110th Precinct and EMS units. The injured victims were brought by paramedics to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, FDNY sources said.
