THOMAS STERN of Dominican Village in Amityville, L.I., formerly of Ridgewood and Glendale, died on Thursday, May 24. He was the husband of the late Angelina, loving father of Thomas and Kathy Stern, Joseph Stern and Patricia and Kevin McVeety, cherished grandfather of Elizabeth and John Surry, Kristen Stern and Ryan, Megan and Colleen McVeety, fond great-grandfather of John Thomas Surry and dear brother of Sr. Catherine Stern O.P. and Gertrude Stern. He was predeceased by brother Frederick, Aloysius, Henry and Peter and sister Adelaide. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Fr. James P. Bradley, a longtime family friend, at St. Martin of Tours Church, Amityville, followed by interment with military honors at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, L.I., under the direction of Powell Funeral Home, Inc., 67 Broadway (Route 110), Amityville. The family has requested memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Dominican Village, 565 Albany Ave., Amityville, NY 11701; or the Sisters of St. Dominic, 555 Albany Ave., Amityville, NY 11701.

JILL ANN RUDZEWICK-VIK died on Thursday, June 7, at the age of 46. She was the beloved mother of Kristian and Emily, loving daughter of Barbara and Kenneth T. Rudzewick, dear sister of Thomas Rudzewick, Glen Rudzewick and Roger Rudzewick, sister-in-law of Michele, Mary and Elle and cherished niece of Marjory Masone. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Monday, June 11, at St. Stanislaus Church, Maspeth, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Maspeth, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Ave., Maspeth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jill Ann’s memory to the St. Stanislaus School Endowment Fund, 61-17 Grand Ave., Maspeth, NY 11378.

MARIA COYNE died on Friday, June 1, at the age of 76. She was the wife of the late Michael, loving mother of Ria Coyne and Kevin Coyne and cherished grandmother of four grandchildren. A private cremation was held at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Ave., Maspeth.

MONSERRATE GONZALEZ VEGA died on Monday, June 4, at the age of 63. She was the wife of the late Juan Marte, loving mother of John E. Marte, dear sister of Oscar and Victor Gonzalez and cherished grandmother of Adrian Marte. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A private cremation was held on Wednesday, June 6, at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Ave., Maspeth.

GLADYS M. SCHWALLY, formerly of Glendale, died on Saturday, May 26, at the age of 81. A native of Glendale, she was the beloved wife of Donald Schwally Sr., devoted mother of Donald Schwally Jr., fond mother-in-law of Lillian Schwally and dear sister of Lorraine Schmiedlin and Robert Koenig. She is also survived by grandchildren April Murillo and Joy Schwally and great-grandson Jaxon. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on June 1 at St. Pancras Church, Glendale, followed by interment at St. John Cemetery, Middle Village, under the direction of George Werst Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Ave., Glendale.

PETAR ZESTREJAN of Ridgewood died on Thursday, June 7, at the age of 69. A native of Vladimirovac, Serbia, he was the husband of the late Alexandra ad devoted father of Petar Zestrejan. Services were offered at Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood, followed by interment at All Faiths Cemetery, Middle Village.

FLORENCE A. DEROSA died on Saturday, June 9, at the age of 93. She was the sister of the late Frank DeRosa, Rose DeRosa and Dorothy Basta, beloved aunt of Dorothy Basta, Dale LoPresti, John Basta, Diane Czwakiel, Donna Beck, Donald DeRosa and Diane Rakow and cherished great-aunt of nine greatnieces and one great-nephew. KATHRYN CARUSO died on Wednesday, June 6, at the age of 91. She was the wife of the late Joseph V. Caruso, loving mother of Joseph V. Caruso and Robert R. Caruso and cherished grandmother of Angela and Robert Paul. A private cremation was held on Tuesday, June 12, at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Ave., Maspeth.

CARMELA FAVUZZA of Pocono Summit, Pa., died on Tuesday, June 5, at the age of 69. A native of Palermo, Sicily, Italy, she was the wife of the late Angelo and devoted mother of Lisa Pulizzi and Rosie Reid. She is also survived by three grandchildren. ELSA FATULE of Ridgewood died on Sunday, June 10, at the age of 57. A native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, she was the devoted mother of Katherine Batista and Maria Esquivel and dear sister of Jose Salomon and Fatule Sanchez. EILEEN J. CARCANO of Ridgewood died on Saturday, June 9, at the age of 44. A native of Brooklyn, she was the devoted mother of Nelson Carcano Jr. and dear sister of James Bloss and Maria Millwater. ELISAVETA PETRARU of Ridgewood died on Thursday, June 7, at the age of 74. A native of Licurici, Romania, she was the devoted mother of Adrian Pamparau. She is also survived by three grandchildren.
