Dwellings Damaged by Cypress Hills Blaze

Three homes were damaged and a vacant structure collapsed during a two-alarm fire in Cypress Hills on Monday afternoon, June 11, Fire Department sources said. Reportedly, the inferno ignited at around 1:30 p.m. in the rear of a vacant dwelling on Richmond Street near Ridgewood Avenue. Responding to the scene (in the order of their arrival) were members of Engine companies 236, 332, 293, 225, 290, 233, 285, 277, 286 and 319; Ladder companies 175, 107, 120, 103, 176 and 135; Squad Co. 252; Rescue 2 and Battalions 39, 44, 51 and 58-under the direction of Division 15- along with the 75th Precinct and EMS units. No injuries were reported despite the significant damage. four hose lines and one tower ladder were used by firefighters to bring the blaze under control, according to FDNY sources.
