Scouts Met Gold Standard

Two members of Girl Scout Troop 4027 at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Woodhaven were recently recognized with the Girl Scout Gold Award for their projects to improve the community. As noted, Katherine Kurre was honored for her efforts to cleanup and refurbish the area around Strack Pond in Forest Park, while Alyssa Audette was recognized for holding a towel, toy and newspaper drive to benefit the North Shore Animal League. Both students, who are graduates of The Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica, also received accolades from State Sen. Joseph Addabbo and Assemblyman Mike Miller.
