A driver was injured after his vehicle overturned on the entrance to the westbound Brooklyn-Queens Expressway from Queens Boulevard in Woodside on Sunday night, July 22, Fire Department sources said. Reportedly, the accident occurred at 11 p.m. at the ramp located at the corner of Queens Boulevard and 65th Place. Members of nearby Engine Co. 292 and Rescue 4, along with Squad Co. 288, Ladder Co. 136, Battalion 46, the 108th Precinct, NYPD Emergency Services Unit 10 and EMS units responded to the scene. Using the Hurst tool (“jaws of life”), firefighters cut through the damaged car to free the pinned driver, who was subsequently transported to Elmhurst Hospital. The driver’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.
