JAMAICA — A routine traffic stop July 17 turned into a car chase, then a foot pursuit and then finally a major arrest for officers in Jamaica.
According to police, plainclothes officers attempted to pull over Emmanuel Elmore, 25, after he failed to stop at a stop sign in his 2005 Hyundai Accent.
Elmore ignored the officers’ demands to pull over and eventually abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot, according to police.
After a chase through several backyards, cops said Elmore was apprehended and found in possession of a loaded .25-caliber firearm.
Upon further investigation, cops determined the vehicle was reported stolen July 8 and Elmore was wanted for raping a 21-year-old female in April.
Following the arrest, cops said the suspect was charged with rape, criminal possession of a loaded firearm, reckless endangerment, fleeing from an officer in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of stolen property, grand larceny of an auto, aggravated unlicensed operator, unlawful possession of marijuana and failure to stop at a stop sign.
