The proposed one-way conversion of a one-block segment of Doran Avenue in Glendale will be the focus of a public hearing held by Community Board 5 at the start of their regular meeting this Wednesday, July 11, in Middle Village.
As announced by District Manager Gary Giordano, the session will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Christ the King Regional High School’s CNL Center, third floor, door 10, located at 68-02 Metropolitan Ave.
The public hearing will focus on the results of a Department of Transportation (DOT) traffic study for the area of eastern Glendale bordered by 76th Avenue, Aubrey Avenue, Woodhaven Boulevard and 88th Street.
Giordano explained that the DOT has proposed changing the direction of Doran Avenue between 89th Street and Woodhaven Boulevard from a one-way westbound to a one-way eastbound. The change is being considered to improve traffic safety conditions.
The DOT has also proposed instituting “no standing” regulations at several intersections in this area of eastern Glendale to improve traffic visibility. It was noted that this plan would result in the elimination of some parking spaces at corners.
Following the public hearing, the board will hold its regularly scheduled meeting, which includes the public forum, a review of current liquor license applications and demolition notices, as well as reports from committees.
