Bandit Wanted For Maspeth Heist
Thousands of dollars in cash were reportedly stolen by a gun-toting crook who paid a visit to a bank in Maspeth during a heist last Saturday morning, Aug. 4, and remains at large as of press time.
Police described the perpetrator as a caucasian male who was observed wearing a black sweatshirt and a tan hat.
According to law enforcement sources, the stickup took place at about 10:50 a.m. last Saturday at the Amalgamated bank located at 69-73 Grand Ave. at 69th Lane.
Reportedly, the bandit walked into the bank, approached a teller and demanded cash while brandishing a firearm. Police said the employee handed several thousands of dollars in cash to the suspect, who then fled from the scene in an unknown direction.
Members of the 104th Precinct responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.
Various police units canvassed the surrounding area for the suspect, but despite their efforts, no immediate arrests were made, authorities said.
The case was presented to the 104th Precinct Detective Squad and the NYPD Major Case Squad for further investigation, police said.
